This Privacy Policy explains how Corkwise collects, uses, processes, shares, and protects information when you use the Corkwise mobile app, website, and related services.
Corkwise is operated by Daniel Tavelli (“Corkwise,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
Corkwise is designed to provide wine list guidance while minimizing data collection. We do not require you to create an account, provide your name, or provide your email address.
1. Information We Collect & How We Process It
To operate and improve Corkwise, we collect specific data and share it strictly with the service providers listed below. We do not sell your personal data or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Wine List Images (Processed by Gemini): When you upload or take a photo of a wine list, the file is sent to Google's Gemini AI to extract text and analyze the menu. We do not store these images on our own servers. Gemini temporarily stores the files for up to 48 hours for processing purposes before deleting them. We do not use your images to train AI models.
App Usage & Diagnostics (Processed by PostHog): To improve the app and fix bugs, we collect limited technical and usage data, such as device type, operating system, app version, crash reports, general feature usage, and app/session identifiers. This data is used for analytics, diagnostics, and product improvement.
Subscriptions & Revenue (Processed by Adapty): If you purchase a subscription, the transaction is processed securely by Apple. We use Adapty to manage your subscription status and unlock premium features. Adapty processes your purchase history, but neither Corkwise nor Adapty ever receives your payment card details.
Backend Processing (Processed by Supabase): Corkwise uses Supabase to securely route app requests, process analysis requests, and operate related backend functionality. We do not store uploaded files or images on Corkwise servers. Backend infrastructure may process and retain request metadata and technical logs as necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
2. Device Permissions
Camera & Photos: Corkwise requires access to your camera or photo library solely so you can scan or upload wine lists. We only access images you explicitly choose to submit. You can revoke this permission at any time in your iOS device settings.
3. Children and Legal Drinking Age
Corkwise is intended only for users who are at least 18 years old and of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children or from users who are not legally permitted to use the app.
4. Data Retention
Menu Images: Deleted by Gemini within 48 hours.
Analytics & Subscription Data: Retained only as long as necessary to operate the app, manage your access, and troubleshoot technical issues.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data. Because Corkwise does not require an account, we have limited ability to identify your specific data unless you provide sufficient technical information, such as an app identifier, to help us locate it.
